Orthodontics for Children
Early interceptive orthodontics (ages 6–12)
For a child, the memory of their first visit to the dentist matters a great deal. A fear of the sound of machines or the strong smell of antiseptic can stay with them well into adulthood. That is why, at BlueSky, we begin your child’s journey not with an orthodontic appliance, but with a gentle conversation in a light-filled room on the banks of the Saigon River.
Between the ages of 6 and 12, your child’s jaw is at its most active and adaptable stage of natural growth. Seemingly harmless habits such as tongue thrusting, mouth breathing or thumb-sucking often quietly narrow the dental arch and divert the direction in which the teeth erupt. With just a very small intervention at the right time, the dentist can gently redirect the growth of the jaw, guiding the permanent tooth buds to erupt straight without the need for extractions or complex treatment later in life.
Instead of impressions taken with rubber trays that can easily cause gagging, your child simply relaxes and enjoys the view while a 3D intraoral scanner captures their dental data in an instant. Every step of the treatment plan is transparent and displayed visually, so parents can follow every small change in their child’s teeth over time with peace of mind.
Never rushed, never forced – BlueSky stands by your family with patience, cherishing your child’s smile from their earliest years.

Early Orthodontic Appliances for Children

1. Myofunctional Trainer (Silicone)
Guides teeth to erupt in the correct position and eliminates bad habits such as thumb-sucking and tongue thrusting.

2. Palatal Expander
Widens a narrow dental arch, creating enough space for the permanent teeth to erupt evenly.

3. Space Maintainer
Holds the space in the dental arch when your child loses a baby tooth early, preventing the adjacent teeth from tilting into it.

4. Headgear
Controls and restrains excessive growth of the upper jaw to treat cases of skeletal protrusion.

5. Facemask
Stimulates forward growth of the lower jaw, fully correcting underbite (reverse bite).

6. Early Corrective Brackets
Bonded directly onto a few permanent front teeth to realign severely misaligned teeth.
